Craft Fair!

This past weekend we did a craft fair at Jamaica Plain. I sold totes, zipper pouches and other sewn goodies. The boys made things to sell as well. It was a wonderful experience of customer interaction, meeting and trading with other sellers and of course, making sales. We hope to do it again in the summer :)

A Quilt for Grandma and Grandpa

I made this quilt for my husband's parents who live in rural Oklahoma. It was a fun project to make and visiting them was the best! All the fabric came from my stash and the pattern is a simple half square triangle. Thanks for looking :)

Teachers' Gifts

Hi there! I made these zipper pouches as teachers' gifts. My children have been exclusively on Zoom this year, so I wanted to show my love and appreciation for their amazing teachers! I loosely followed this tutorial as well as this one (which is my go-to method). 

Wedding Face Masks

I was contacted a few weeks ago about creating some custom masks for a cousin's wedding. The idea was to have each mask labelled with the relationship between the wearer and the groom. After some trial and error I came up with these. What do you think? It was a fun project!

Belt Bags

Recently we've been sewing belt bags. We wanted to make something that would work when biking and camping to carry our essentials. First up, W made a bag from this pattern. It is a nice size for adult or child and I like that it's flat. We added velcro to attach it to the front of his bike.

I made this bag. The pattern was a video and easy to follow although I had to tweak it a bit and I ended up with extra pieces. Have you made anything recently? Thanks for reading!

Life in Quarantine

Hi! Are you in quarantine? We've been home for three weeks. Our time is spent doing school, making face masks and perler beading! Here are some crackers we made:

4th of July Tote Bag

Hey! I'm back from a trip to Texas with my boys. We had such fun with all the kids - swimming, barbecuing and painting their ugly brick wall in the living room.

Before I went, I designed and made this canvas tote to replace my last one. I used corduroy for the handles and bottom as well as ticking fabric for the pocket and a sturdy canvas interior. Hoping this holds up for many more adventures.

Shark!

Hey! One of my favorite projects this summer was this shark my son made. We followed McCalls pattern M7103 and the shark turned out to be a lot bigger than we expected! It was a challenging project for a five year old but very rewarding. We have named him Sharky.

Quilted Cushion Cover

It's the last day of playgroup tomorrow and I made this cushion cover for my boys' beloved teacher. We will miss her a lot. It was a fun project and I have more of them in the works ..

Quilt for Luke

There is so much joy when a new baby is born in your family. And this boy is the first for my brother and his wife. Welcome Luke! I made him this simple quilt in blues and yellows.

Red + Blue Patchwork Quilt

I've been using the summer break to finish some projects that I'd started. Last week I finished this patchwork quilt. So fun! This one is for a cousin of mine who is a talented artist. Aaron carves pieces in jade / pounamu and gave me a lovely jade necklace when I was visiting last year. I wanted to make him and his family something and this lap quilt is what I came up with. Cobblestone scarf

Hey! Check out this scarf I've made. It's for an Aunty who lives in Windy Wellington, NZ. She told me that one time she got out of her car, her scarf blew off and she never got it back. Whew! Turns out I'll be travelling down there soon so I can give it to her in person. Have a great day!

Patchwork Quilt

Hi there. I recently finished this patchwork quilt for my youngest. He loves to cuddle up with a blanket so I had an excuse to make this. It took me a while to make because I've been making bags and knitting! Stay tuned...

Quilted Tote Bag

I made this bag! Pattern is the Madras tote from Noodlehead with an interior pocket added for fun. Instead of canvas, I quilted the lining and exterior pockets. I'm looking forward to making more quilted totes. Thanks for tuning in!

Painting and Verse Frames

Well, summer is over and I've been making things! This painting was something I whipped up a few weeks ago. It is paint on canvas fabric in blues and white with specks of gold framed it in a big IKEA frame. 

I've  also been working on verse frames after a friend taught me how to make them. This one was quick and easy ...

I really had to persevere with this one (haha!) It's still not perfect and I may redo it with a smaller font. The frame was solid wood that I painted cream and distressed a little. Thanks for popping in!
